"And the only reason for being a bee that I know of is making honey." Humble Bee Nail-Venturous Swatches and Review!

The first picture was taken at a live hive that was enclosed in glass.  So cool to watch the busy bees!
Now on to the mani.  I used my gelish foundation, then used ibd Just Gel in Solar Rays for the undies.  Every other nail was then topped with Wet n Wild black polish.  Finally, I added it...the very amazing Humble Bee by Nail-Venturous Lacquer!
So, this polish went on great with normal technique.  I didn't have any dragging, pooling, or anything of the sort.  It really just went where I wanted it and stayed there.  I tried the dabble method where you kind of pounce glitters on to fill in the nail on a few nails, and I have to say, that is going to be a great method for the chunkier glitters.  This particular one didn't need it, but I wanted to try.
.
Above you see a swatch wheel shot of humble bee with no undies.  As you can see it is a yellow and black small glitter with small black hexes scattered about.  Really cool polish!
I only have 1 coat of humble bee on in these pics.  The above is with Gelous and Seche top coats, but I decided to paint some stripes on the yellow nails and add matte magic by China Glaze to mattify the entire mani.  Look at how short my poor nails are.  So depressing.
Above is the matte version with crappy stripes painted on.  I am not happy with my stripes, but I do like it matte.  Much better in real life.

Bottom Line:  If you can, buy this polish.  It is really different. It's bright and awesome.  Application is a dream, I am sure removal will be similar to other glitters.

You can find humble bee in the NailVenturous Etsy Shop. The shop is currently in vacation mode, and not sure when a restock will be, but this is a definite must have, so keep your eyes peeled!

All That Glitters Wheel Swatches Bottle Spam and More

Well, my usb ports on my laptop are messing up and not recognizing my card reader again, so my two latest mani pics aren't available until I use my other computer to get them on here.  Until then, some swatches on the nail wheel will have to do.  Right now I am wearing Nail-Venturous Robin Laid an Egg with my thumb water marbled with Zoya Bevin, a generic white, and a pink Julep that I don't recall.  My thumb was the only one that came out halfway ok and even that isn't the way I wanted.  Must have more water marble practice!

I got my All That Glitters nail polishes a while ago.  I haven't had the chance to actually wear any of them yet, but I think Cha Cha Twist is my next mani. I really love it in bottle and on the nail wheel.  It's gorgeous. So, until then, and until I can get my mani pics up, here are my All That Glitters bottles and swatches!

Left to right, Valentine Massacre, Cha Cha Twist, and Spotty Dottie Rosie.  For some reason Valentine Massacre photographs much more orange than it looks in real life.

Backs of the bottles. Aren't they awesome??  Look at the reflections on the table.  So cool!

Now for the one by one color pics.  First up is Valentine Massacre.

You can see that on the swatch wheel there is more of a red tone.  It's a beautiful mix of black and red hexes, tiny red glitters, and a red tinted base.  I can't wait to try this one either!

Next, ChaCha Twist:
What a beautiful polish!  A transparent blue base, with dark blue hexes, aqua hexes, red and black hexes, silver bar glitter, and big red squares!  I just love this polish!

Finally we have Spotty Dottie Rosie:

Spotty Dottie Rosie is a clear base with multiple sizes of red hexes and red bar glitters.  I love it.  I think I am going to use this in conjunction with Sweet Fairy Boutique's Sticks and Stones.  I think one coat of this to 2 coats of Sticks and Stones will make an awesome look.  I love black and white with a punch of red in all sorts of ways, as home decor, in fashion, in photographs, and I am sure I will love it in a mani.  So stay tuned for that!

All That Glitters Polishes can be purchased at the All That Glitters Etsy Shop.  All of the colors you see above are in stock for purchase right now!

And now for a gripe.  All my nails are super short again. They just keep tearing.  It doesn't matter what I use.  For a while my gel manis were keeping them from breaking, but they reach a certain length and even that doesn't protect them enough.  I can go an hour with naked nails and end up with nothing but nubbins.  I need to either give up on ever having long nails, or find something else. I am seriously contemplating getting gels with tips so that I have more length, but I hesitate because I don't want to ruin my nails further than they already get naturally.  What have your experiences been?  What products do you use that work for weak super flexible paper thin nails? Comment please and help a girl out. This really stinks.  My nails are sooo short right now, and they grow so slowly.

Burst of Blue, Perfect for me, and probably for you!

Well, this polish definitely fulfilled my need for a blue from Nail-Venturous!  I am sooo pleased with this polish.  The color is perfect!  It kind of reminds me of one of those enamel coated speckled blue cooking pans!  LOVE!  This mani as achieved by first, an Up in the Blue Gelish mani, then 2 coats of a no named LA Colors Blue that was a PERFECT match for it, and then I only needed ONE coat of Burst of Blue to have it looking amazing!

This is a closely cropped pic of it on one of my nails.  I can't get over the way it just made the blue pop.  I topped with 2 coats Gelous and 1 coat Seche Vite, but probably could have gotten away with just 1 coat of Gelous.  Habit, I suppose!
Such a pretty blue!  Difficult to describe.  It is lighter than cobalt, darker than Robin's egg, I don't know what to call it...so I will call it MY perfect blue! It's a matte black and blue glitter with white hexes and white and holo bar glitters.  I love this mixture.  There also is some fine bar black glitter as well.
This swatch pic shows 2 coats Burst of Blue with no base.  I think it could easily go on it's own in 3 coats!
Beautiful in the bottle, beautiful on the nail.  Seems to be a running theme with Nail-Venturous Lacquers!
Perfection!

Application on this polish was super easy.  There was a nice concentration of glitter in every stroke.  I didn't have to dig for big glitters, I didn't have to flip it upside down between nails, or even between coats.  It just is a great formula.  Went on smooth, glitter behaved really well, no peaks and valleys.  I wore it for 3 days, and I didn't have any chips, just some shrink back from the seche vite.  Why must it shrink??

I highly recommend this polish if you like blue, matte glitter, and awesome application!

Amy's NailVenturous nail polishes can be purchased in her Etsy Shop!  You can also pick up some of her shades at Ninja Polish.

"The Toxic Avenger: Finally... my search is over. Ooohhh... he looks like a big teddy bear, I love him already." Dollish Polish Toxic Avenger Review and OPI GelColor A Grape Fit

I was lucky enough to win a mini of the original Toxic Avenger on the Dollish Polish Facebook page, and I now understand why everyone was so upset to see that this is no longer available.  It is just awesome!!!  This isn't a duochrome, it's a multichrome.  I looked at it in low light, I looked at it in direct light, artificial light, filtered light.  It flashes to so many different colors!  My fave was the red I saw when in a room with the sun beating through the white mini blinds.  It was sooo pretty!  Anyway, here is the bottle.  How I wish it were full size!

So, this mani, unlike my last few, is done over a colored gel manicure.  I used gelish foundation, structure, 2 coats of color, and then top it off.  I decided that I would use my new OPI GelColor in A Grape Fit.  I think it will look great with quite a few of the polishes I plan to wear soon layered over the top of it.  So, here is the mani, before it fell in nuclear waste and turned into the....TOXIC AVENGGGGERRRRRRR!

And look at that...still managed to break some nails.   Even with all that added strength.  Wow...my journey to long nails is 1 step forward 8000 steps back.

It was just a plain purple mani, until one day...it met with that nuclear waste vat, and became the mutant below..  The Toxic Avenger Mani!

This polish was very hard to photograph.  In the above photo you can clearly see the holo-y goodness, but not the colorshift-you can also see I hadn't done clean-up, shhhh!
In this pic you can see the bits of copper and some green as well as the purple.  But, still, it doesn't do this polish justice AT ALLLLL!
Above, you see the shift, but it's blurry because only one nail showed the shift in the pic and I cropped it ....but you can also see the holo, so I hope that gives some idea.
The Spectraflair pigment in this polish is amazing.  Look at it in indirect lighting.  Facing almost completely away from the window you can still see the reflection!

This one shows some color change with one finger held in the shadow of the other.  You can see the greeny copper in index finger, and more of the purple in the middle finger.  Unfortunately I couldn't capture the red.  I think because of the purple base it was on, the red stood out for me more.  Who knows, it is just gorgeous that is all I know!

Application was super easy.  The photos are with no cleanup and I did not take my time, so you can see how well it really did apply.  If the new formulation Dolly is working on is anything at all like this polish, well, make sure you don't buy a mini!  Buy FULL SIZE!!

Dolly's Etsy shop is closed right now, but you can check it for updates, here's the link: Dollish Polish Etsy Shop

Before I end this post, let me remind you of the 100 blog follower giveaway.  We are getting closer!  25 more to go!  I will be taking pics of the prize soon here.  Waiting on one more polish to arrive that will be included and then, you will see what you might win!  I know you won't be disappointed!

Easter Indie Skittles Mani! Whimsical Ideas by Pam, Pretty & Polished, and Candeo

So, I did a number of failed Easter Manis.  My polish decided to wrinkle, look boring, just blah looking.  So when my Whimsical Ideas by Pam came, I decided I MUST use all three.  Then for the remaining two nails, I used Pretty & Polished and Candeo Colors

On my thumbs, I used Whimsical's I Believe in Fairies, index Whimiscal Butterfly Kisses, Middle Whimsical Seuss, ring Pretty&Polished Carni, and pinkie Candeo Jellybean.  My favorite finger is Butterfly Kisses!  Then Carni!
I applied the Candeo Jellybean over Gap Daffodil again.  This time wasn't quite so bad since my pinkies are so small, it didn't cause too many problems.

Butterfly Kisses was applied over Julep Niecy.  Both of these polishes went on amazingly well.  I had no problems at all with Butterfly Kisses.  Glitter came out beautifully, and it was a great polish.

Look at that bottle!  So cool, all that glitter!
I Believe in Fairies was applied over Julep Charlotte.   I think a less dusky color would be better.  Maybe next time a royal blue?  I Believe in Fairies was easy to apply if you aren't trying to get that star glitter out.  I got two pieces in the 3 layers I did on each thumb.  I REALLY had to work at it.  It is super cute and I do love it, but I wish there were more stars in it so it would be easier to get at least 1 per nail without a hassle.  I happen to think it is worth it as is though.  If you don't like fighting for certain glitters, not sure you will love it as much.
I used Julep Niecy under Pretty & Polished Carni as well.  It really doesn't need anything under it as a couple coats and you are at full coverage.  I love the random larger glitters in this polish!  It is one of my faves of ALL of my indies.  Right up there with Lacquistry Lake Placid on Acid.
I used a light blue Julep under Seuss from Whimsical Ideas by Pam.  I love the color of Seuss, I think next time I will try to match the panties with the top lol.  It did nothing for it..and I really was unhappy with my choice, but had no time to fix it.  Seuss has very sparse amounts of glitter in it.  I love the fact that you get random pieces of red and white here and there..but I am a glitter girl, and I really wish it was a bit more loaded.  Who knows, since I love the way it looks, a more dense glitter concentration may have totally ruined the look...What do you think?

Whimsical Ideas by Pam can be found on her Facebook Page! Email her to order!
Pretty & Polished and Candeo both sell on Etsy!

Another reminder of our 100 blog member giveaway!  There will be 2 Nail-Venturous polishes, 1 Lacquistry, 1 Candeo, 1 Fingerpaints Flakey as the prize!  All dream polishes!  So, get the word out and let's get the rest of the way there!  We are 27 away from the giveaway!!

The Great Jellybean Caper: Candeo Colors Review and gap Nail polish, plus preview of giveaway!

I love Jellybean's look!  I did a horrible mani with it, but it is beautiful.  I was so excited to get this polish, and it is a really great one.  Perfect for spring time.  For this mani, I layered it over Gap Daffodil nail polish.  I DO NOT recommend the Gap polish at all!  It swatches nicely, but putting it on your nail, that's another story.  It's streaky, majorly.  It bubbled on me with thin coats.  Just all around don't recommend.  I love the color...but beyond that nope!  As undies, it will do, but on it's own, or for anything beyond some nail art, just pass.  There are plenty of other polishes out that deserve your attention.
OK, Candeo, your turn!  I was a little concerned about this polish after seeing some photos of it clearly separating and all the glitter fallen to the bottom of the bottle.  It did arrive a little separated, but not nearly so bad.  No clear line of demarcation between color and glitter.  Shaking it up very well did take care of the little separation I did observe.
You can see in the above pic that the glitter is still pretty well incorporated, and this was after it sitting overnight.  A few shakes and it would be all the way ready for another go!
This nail is filed, but the gap polish removal wrecked my gelish mani that I use as a base just enough to cause a jagged looking edge, not visible to the naked eye, but def. visible in macro mode.  This nail has no undies except for the clear gelish mani.  The rest have the gap daffodil still underneath it.  I like it on it's own, but I think somehow putting the other polish under it made the glitters stand out more.
Here you can see my crap job, but you can also see the bubbles of the gap polish at the nail tip.  Seriously strange.  I can fix it, but you can't REALLY see it if you are just looking at the nail.
The Candeo is a really smooth applying polish, the lumpy bumpies you see are all down to the Gap polish underneath.  I didn't have time to do a removal and repaint, so just use these pics as an illustration of what happens with a less than stellar panty polish.
For application, I did not notice any dragging, or have any trouble going over an already painted area.  Drying time was fast, just an all around great polish.  If you notice separation, and you might, a vigorous shaking will take care of it!
 Front of the bottle~how cute~
Back of the bottle, like I said, after a full night of sitting, no shaking before photo taken.
 I really love this polish!
The beauty and the beast!  Again, don't buy the ghastly gap color unless you feel like fighting with something...or punching yourself in the gut repeatedly.

With all that said, isn't it so cute!?  Don't the nails look like candy??  YUMM!

Right above..that is a preview of PART of the giveaway!   100 blog followers and you will get these two polishes, Peacock Gone Wild by Nail Venturous, and Jellybean by Candeo.  There will be more though!  Soon, I will have up pics of more of the included polishes!  So, get your friends to follow the blog, post it on facebook, get the word out!

To purchase Candeo Colors, visit the Candeo Colors Etsy shop during one of her store openings.  Sign up for notification, as some of the colors go EXTREMELY quickly.

Don't buy the Gap!  But if you are a masochist, you can get it at your local gap, or a gap outlet store.
